I know three types of skinning, the one you can read below is the most known and practical in my opinion. There is another kind of skinning type, wherer you want to prepare a mount, or later stuff it, or if we are in an environment unsuitable to hang things. That method requires two people (it can also be done alone, if one is skilled enough). Here, I will describe the easier method:

If the animal still lives, we hit it on it's nape, then cut it's throat and let it bleed to death. We have to make it 'piss'. To do this, you have to „massage” it with your thumb from the upper part of it's stomach towards the hind legs. With this method, we can get rid of most of the urine.



We hang it with a head downwards - with the fixing knot is below the elbow (so it won't slip out), then cut both legs around. You can see on the pictures, that the sinews do not take damage. This is important, because if they do take damage, we pull both the skin and the muscules.

After the two thighs we cut the tail! As far as we can, we pull the skin, then cut the tail from the bottom to the top.

On the front and on the back we grab the skin strongly, and after that -with a determined move- we pull the skin off the body to the head.

At this point only the forelegs and the neck is holding the skin. We can break the bones a bit, and cut the legs off at the elbow.

The head can be cut off with a move.



The next part is the gutting – we start it at the stomach. Carefully grab the abdominal wall, then slowly cut it to the half.

This is needed because we need some place we can dangle the rectum out (after it has been cut out). You have to grab the skin because most likely there is still some urine in the bladder, and you may accidentally cut out the internals.

We will now cut the sacrum, which is very easy, because it's gristly. The rectum should be cut out on the two sides.

One thing that worh it to deal with in the outdoors is the liver. It can be easily cut out, but rather cut a bit more out than damage the bile – because in that case we could throw it out completely.

There's now only the spine and the hind legs. Both can be cut with one move at the whirls and detatch them from the spine.
